Why Donate?

Like most music organizations, Spire Chamber Ensemble relies on financial donations from supporters like you. 

Here's Spire by the numbers:

Ticket sales cover only a third of our operating budget.

98% of raised funds went directly to our programs.

​30% of Spire's tickets are donated to individuals who love music but cannot afford to purchase tickets themselves.

To give you an idea of how Spire uses its donated funds...

​Purchases a gas card for an artist to use while in town for a performance.

​Sponsors two free tickets to Messiah so people who love music but don't have the resources to buy tickets can attend a Spire event.

​Purchases the literal music!  This is the cost of a vocal or instrumental score that the artists would need to learn and perform the pieces.

​Pays for a portion of an archival recording of a performance. Spire needs to submit current recordings with grant applications to seek funding each year.

Allows a Spire artist to spend a day with local Kansas City music students, performing a cameo concert for them and then conducting a workshop where the students perform and then receive feedback from the artists.

​Flies an artist into town for a performance. Approximately 70% of Spire artists travel to Kansas City for our concerts. This is among our largest expenses.

​Keeps our organ or harpsichord in tune for one performance series.
