Spire Chamber Ensemble inspires, educates, and enriches the Kansas City metropolitan community through the transformational power of live choral music, music therapy, and music education.
Spire Chamber Ensemble is a professional choral group of superb local, regional, and national artists from United States and Canada. Their commitment assures excellence:
• To use music as a healing device bringing diverse communities together
• To offer rarely heard Baroque masterworks in collaboration with the Spire Baroque Orchestra
• To showcase unique repertoire for voices and organ
• To provide students a fresh experience with choral music through education outreach programs
• To honor the talents and contributions of American composers and be a catalyst for the creation of new compositions by this country’s composers
Our music programs for adults and young people possess emotional, spiritual, and mental healing properties that impact the well-being of those we serve. By using music in combination with forums, discussion, and partnerships, we create dialogue and lasting change regarding access, diversity, equity, and inclusion. We aim to provide both direct and indirect services and dialogue about complex civic issues such as racial justice, police brutality, the refugee crisis, and violence against LGBTQIA members in America today. We offer a doorway for those served to enter as they can and feel what they must, while encouraging them to remain open to the power music possesses to stir within the listener an empathy for those suffering. Now, more than ever, we need art to create sincere conversations between disparate groups and our work in this area is vital to systematic and lasting change.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has declared racism a public health crisis or emergency. We use the vehicle of music to advance racial equity and justice, followed by allocation of resources and strategic action to collaborative social justice partners. We offer diverse audiences throughout the region a unique opportunity to experience chamber music concerts and educational events of a world-class caliber, while simultaneously providing vibrant inspirational gatherings, creating a sense of belonging, and calling all to action.
