2015-2016 Season
Dear Spire Community:
It’s hard to imagine the Spire Chamber Ensemble is now entering its sixth season and this year promises to be our most dynamic to date. Due to popular demand, we are bringing back an all a cappella program featuring the singers of Spire intoning otherworldly chants and choral motets in honor of the Virgin Mary in August. Our annual period performance of Handel’s Messiah in the world-class Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts a few days before Christmas will surely be a performance like you have never heard before. Additionally, this spring we will present Music to Die For featuring the ethereal Duruflé Requiem with our longtime collaborative organist Jan Kraybill in some of the most beautiful and buoyant acoustics our region has to offer. This series will also feature a world premiere for chorus and organ by the American composer Zachary Wadsworth. Last but certainly not least, we offer Handel’s Dixit Dominus – one of the most virtuosic choral works ever composed paired with the famous Haydn Lord Nelson Mass featuring the Spire Baroque Orchestra.
Each and every one of the above programs contains music that exalts, that ignites, that soothes, that yearns, that uplifts. We strive for an artistic experience that takes the listener and musician alike on a journey through real, true, honest emotions. Please join us for what, I know, will be our most riveting season yet.
Warmest Regards,
Ben A. Spalding
